I offer a unique approach to counselling and psychotherapy. I am a Neurocounsellor and mindfulness practitioner which means that I utilise scientific knowledge of how the brain works and combine this with modern counselling skills, mindfulness and meditation.

About Me

Samantha Morris BSc (Hons) Psych (Open) MBPsS, MNCS (Accred)(She/Her)

I am a qualified counsellor, mindfulness practitioner and meditation teacher. I studied Psychology at degree level with the Open university before completing my therapeutic counselling diploma. I am fascinated by the brain and am currently studying Applied Neuroscience at Masters level with Kings College London. I believe strongly in the body/mind connection and this is firmly rooted in my counselling practice. 


 

 I have previously worked as a bereavement support volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Care 

and as a school based counsellor in a primary school. Before training as a counsellor I worked as a frontline emergency services worker.



I am an accredited member of the National Counselling society, member of the Mindfulness Association, British Neuroscience Association (Postgraduate) and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). 


I have an enhanced CRB check and I am insured to practice with Holistic Insurance.

How I work

I aim to work collaboratively with my clients. I am trained in multiple counselling disciplines and use these integratively, adapting them to each individual clients' needs. 


Our sessions will focus on developing mindful skills to help with everyday problems and some of life's challenges. I will work on helping you to notice your thoughts and build acceptance and space around them. Mindfulness also helps to increase awareness of what is going on in your body as well as using your senses and breath as tools to stay present, as an alternative to ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. 


As a budding Neuroscientist I will also help you to understand your brain's

processes and how stress and trauma can affect your whole body. 

Understanding how our brains work can assist with self-compassion 

and offer up explanations of why you may be having feelings or

behaving in ways you can't understand or explain as a result of life's stresses.


  I also love to work creatively with clients who are open to exploring that side of themselves using art, music or theatre style therapies. Looking at mindful nutrition can also help by exploring eating patterns and foods that may affect depression, anxiety and sleeping patterns along with other health issues.

I understand that it can be extremely daunting when trying to find a new therapist and that it needs to be a good fit for you. For that reason I offer a free 30 minute consultation so that you can see if my services are a good fit for you. 


All sessions are 50 minutes long and I charge £60 per session.
